Sow the Wind, Reap the Whirlwind

Hosea 8 is full of examples of Israel sowing the wind and reaping the whirlwind, whether creating idols for their own destruction, lying that they know God when they really don’t, or running to foreign powers for help when they should have turned to God.  Hosea warns of a vulture hovering over Israel, coming destruction via Assyria.  God’s people still sow the wind and create idols today, but we have no fear of death because of the One who died for us, and pours His Spirit into us to make us covenant keepers instead of covenant breakers.
